HITS SOUTH ASIA-INDO CHINA
The emerging garment manufacturing region of "South Asia-Indo China" was badly
suffering for long for want of its own regional publication.
"EKG - Emerging Knitting & Garments" has been planned to meet that need. The need
of such a voice was felt when lots of trials and errors on the desks of policy labs in
WTO, as well as, European Union and United States, were clouding the horizon of the
developing countries like, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Nepal, etc.
Unfortunately, the export economy of such countries was more or less fully at stake,
because of 50-90% depenency on exports of textile apparels to the developed
economies. The pressure on Bangladesh, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar was
unbearable, since the five regional countries, with a population of some 250 million,
had no other organised export base, or employment generating facilities to absorb
the workers of the garment factories facing collapse in uneven free competition
with other major producing and exporting nations.
The smaller economies were just being kicked out of the race, as they had no command
on the trade. Nearly all of their raw materials were imported. The garment industry
developed in the region capitalising only on cheaper workers, mostly poverty driven rural women folks. EKG is committed to promote and uphold the causes of the
region's industry.
Currently, there are about 40 million workers employed in about 5,000 garment
factories of the region. Bangladesh alone employs over 2 million in more than 3,000
apparel making establishments. In fact, South Asia-Indo China garment industry as a
whole developed itself as clothier of the richer nations. A great chunk of common
wears-casual wears consumed in Europe and North America are exported from this
region at substantially cheaper prices. The vast majority of the workers in the region
earn less than US$50 per head per month (10-12 hours a day for 6 days a week).
Anyway, the order of the world trade, could not yet hurt the industry. The
Western
economy is still favouring cheaper imports from South Asia-Indo China.
The factories are
running as usual, and among them emerges the most potential
knitwear manufacturing
sector. Every month several new knitwear factories are
coming up, or old ones are
getting expanded. Industry people observe that the
future development in the
Bangladesh-Nepal-Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar clothing
industry cluster will be based
mostly on knitwears.
The huge opportunities in using diverse knitting technologies have been
drastically
reducing import of raw materials, and, more profitably, increasing
the value addition to
the knit apparels, resulting in rapid expansion of the
knitting industry and knitwear
manufacturing in the region. EKG has been planned
to be a partner of the development.
We have great pleasure to invite the industry people, including the buyers of
their
products and suppliers of rawmaterials, machineries, etc, to the knitwear
factories, to
help EKG develop up to the industry's requirement. In addition to
its own editorial
material, EKG is going to publish your supplied news on new
products and product
update, for free and for no obligation. The products can be
new knitwears or new
machines to manufacture knitwears.
The deadline for submission of advertising material for the first issue, January 2006,
will expire three weeks earlier, than the usual, on November 7, 2005, while the
manufacturers supplied news for the issue should reach the editor two months earlier,
by September 7.

EKG Emerging Knitting & Garments
EDITORIAL TO BOOST AD RETURN
Asia, specially, the labour intensive textile and clothing manufacturing countries of Bangladesh,
Nepal, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar in the "South Asia-Indo China" region.
Its editorial standing recognises the regional countries' right to exploit the world market by
manufacturing garments, knit goods and other textile products to improve the quality of life, as
well as to contribute greatly to the GDP and export earnings, in the producing countries, and fulfill the consumers' freedom of buying cheap and best in the consuming-importing
countries worldwide.
In all five covering countries, over 4 million workers are employed full time in the knitting and
garment industries and other forward and backward linkage sectors. Over 3 million of the
workers are rural females, who found a new lease of life with factory job and are enjoying
empowerment in society, leaving behind a trail of devastating human miseries because of
poverty gripped social insecurity.
The cheaper female work force in South and Southeast Asian clothing industry has greatly
pushed ahead the consumption of ready-to-wears to a very comfortable level among the common consumers in the developed nations, and also helped sustaining the growth of linkage
sectors, such as, textile industries, fibre productions, development of machineries and dyes, etc, worldwide, most particularly, in the industrialised developed countries of
European Union, USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, etc.
EKG's strong editorial team covers knit and woven clothing industry developments in
Bangladesh, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, and also in the competing neighbouring Asian countries, including China, India and Thailand. The editors, writers, correspondents and
contributors also report on the developments in the consuming markets, specially, in the major
importing nations of European Union, USA-Canada and Japan.
The editorial coverage includes comprehensive hard material, such as, in-depth reports, industry round up, country overview, trade review, market trend, profile, interview, buyer-seller
counterpoints, fashion and quality product development, cost-effective production and export
management, investment and labour environment, world trade negotiations, statistics on
production, consumption and trade, and use of potential technologies.
The monthly magazine also highlights new yarns, fabrics, accessories, machineries,
equipments, dyes, chemicals, and other processings, to be of interest to the knitting industries
and the garment manufacturers.
(advertisers are under no obligation to insert or pay for anything -
usually, they hardly afford to miss a unique chance of highly supportive advertising):
ADVERTISING
EKG is modest and moderate in advertising policy, as well as in editorial coverage that offers plenty of opportunities in promoting the interest of the advertisers while the magazine provides the readers with best possible information editorially on products and services to be supplied to them. Its main advertisers are manufacturers and suppliers of yarns, fabrics, accessories, machineries, equipments, dyes, chemicals, packaging materials, and others, including, shipping and air lines, overland transporters, freight forwarders, logistic operators, port facilities, financial organisations, etc.
Advertising rate is based on audited circulation of approximately 5,000 copies delivered to the knitting industries and the garment manufacturers in Bangladesh, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Copies delivered to other readers do not involve advertising tariff. EKG is firmly determined to ensure over 95% access to the targeted manufacturers in the five regional countries, to ensure highest value for money spent on advertising for audiences in those countries.

READERSHIP
EKG's readers are manufacturers of knit textiles and garments, specially, knitwears, chiefly in
Bangladesh, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Other Asian readers include knitting and
garment industries in the neighbouring South and South-East Asian countries, such as, India,
Pakistan and Sri Lanka, in the Sub-Continent; China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan, in
East Asia; and Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, in South-East
Asia. There are a significant number of readers in the garment importing countries of Europe,
North America, North-East Asia, Middle East, Australia-New Zealand and others.
In Bangladesh-Nepal-Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar region, there are over 30,000 readers, who are
owners of about 5,000 knitting and garment factories, constituting approximately 98% of the
major clothing industries, which currently spend about US$4,000 million a year on inputs,
such as, yarns, fabrics, accessories, machineries, equipments, dyes, etc. Already, the region,
in general, and Bangladesh, in particular, is a major importer of knitting machineries, yarns,
fabrics, accessories and dyes, in league with global leaders.
Various studies show that during 2006-2011, the yearly expenses on inputs may rise to
US$8-10,000 million. A half of the spending will come from the knit fabric industries and knitwear
manufacturers. By the terminal year, the export revenue on knitting and garments is expected to
be doubled to around US$20,000 million, offering tremendous scope for consolidating a
sustainable base for continued progress in manufacturing textile products and marketing them
in the world market.
EKG welcomes its advertisers to examine the magazine's penetration into the target market to
see for themselves on the spot the result of the money spent on advertising.
